Start your day in the Barossa with Gibson, with our daily Barossa Shiraz by barrel experience. This is an opportunity to step into the world of small batch winemaking.
Join Adam, ‘The Duke’ and vintage winemaker at Gibson, as he guides you through a tasting of Shiraz straight from the oak barrel its maturing in. Learn about Gibson’s method of layering flavour through both vineyard sites, ‘fractions’ and oak selection.
The tour includes a barrel tasting and a seated cellar door experience, where you will be guided through Gibson’s current vintage releases, including our super premium bottlings.
Gibson Wines was established in 1996 and draws on over 45 years of experience of its founder; viticulturist, geologist and winemaker, Rob Gibson.
Rob – with wife Anne and son Adam – uphold a ‘wine growing’ philosophy. A belief deeply rooted in an understanding of the relationship between vineyards, their cycle of growth and maximising flavour intensity in resultant wines.
During his years studying at Roseworthy College, and later as head of the first viticultural department of Penfolds, Rob’s passion for wine growing and geology led him to be known as ‘The Dirtman’.
The Dirtman moniker continues with Gibson, as does the pursuit for maximising flavour.
Gibson Wines, following the release of the South Australian Government/SA Health COVID-19 Test, Trace, Isolate and Quarantine (TTIQ) guidelines, introduced from 23 November 2021, will implement a house policy with respect to unvaccinated guests taking part in our Experiences.
This policy is in the interests of keeping our staff and community safe, whilst respecting the rights of you as a guest.
From 23/11/2021, Gibson Wines will strongly recommend all vaccine-eligible public visitors on our Experiences are double-dose vaccinated from COVID-19.
If you are not double dose vaccinated, we ask that you notify our staff before attending. Unvaccinated guests can still enjoy the services of Gibson Wines, however to protect our staff and other guests, we will adopt a separate service procedure as part of our Experience.
