Gibson Wines was established in 1996 and draws on over 45 years of experience of its founder; viticulturist, geologist and winemaker, Rob Gibson. Rob – with wife Anne and son Adam – uphold a ‘wine growing’ philosophy. A belief deeply rooted in an understanding of the relationship between vineyards, their cycle of growth and maximising flavour intensity in resultant wines. During his years studying at Roseworthy College, and later as head of the first viticultural department of Penfolds, Rob’s passion for wine growing and geology led him to be known as ‘The Dirtman’. The Dirtman moniker continues with Gibson, as does the pursuit for maximising flavour. In 1847, along the banks of Jacob’s Creek, Johann Gramp planted his first vineyard. His vision was to create great tasting wines that reflect the true character of the grapes and the land. To this day we live and breathe this vision by producing wines that showcase how each grape variety expresses itself when shaped by the soil and the sun of Australia. Our home is built along the banks of Jacob’s Creek, which still flows through the heart of the Barossa Valley to this day. From here, our vineyards stretch from the Barossa to Adelaide Hills to the Coonawarra, producing wine that’s inspired by the Australian wine regions they’re grown in. Learn about our regions, and how we’re taking care to protect and preserve the environment we operate in. The story of Jacob’s Creek is a story of people, places and passion. A 167-year history of Gramp & Sons that first began when a Bavarian immigrant missed the taste of wine from his homeland so much, he decided to start growing grapes. Discover our passion for winemaking and our journey to becoming one of Australia’s best wine producers. A minimum of two people required to run this experience.
